Coastal Management Strategy: Rock Armour
Secondary Research:
Rock armour or boulder barriers can be defined as where large boulders are piled up on the beach in order to stop the ocean waves from reaching the buildings.
Advantages be of rock armour:
The advantages of using a sea wall in Australia would be that it allows the beach to build up and absorb the energy of the waves, rock armour helps to solve the coastal erosion and flooding problem due to that it helps to slow their process down.
Disadvantages of rock armour:
However along with the advantages of this strategy it does come along with disadvantages which include that it can be difficult to transport the boulders from one spot to another and that it can be expensive to build and maintain.

Primary Research:
Cronulla Beach:
By travelling to Cronulla Beach as a year 10 group on the 25th of August we were able to see some rock armor at the east side of the Cronulla beach. This strategy created by the Sutherland Shire Council and Local Government was a success due to that it protected the building located behind the rock armor from flooding when it is high tide. On Saturday, my family and I went to North Gong beach to see how well its rock wall was going. These rock walls was used to as a ships bay.
North Gong Beach:
On 27th august 2016, my family and I went to North Gong Beach to collect more primary data of how both natural and human processes have been impacting the coastlines in Australia as well as how each of the strategies created are working in order to stop or slow down the human and natural processes.
