Human Process: Sand Mining/building
Secondary Research:
Mining can be defined as where sand is mined from the beaches and is used for another purpose such as to build houses. Sand mining has been happening at different beaches around Australia due to that certain minerals can be found in the beach sand such as zircon, ilmenite and rutile.
Impacts on coastal environment:
Sand mining has different impacts on the coastlines around Australia for different reasons such as that it removes dune vegetation, it destroys the lithosphere at beaches and that it also impacts the animal habitats as well.
Impacts on local communities:
Sand mining has different impacts on the local communities would be that it wrecks their beach by leaving big holes in the sand where people may fall into and that the the beach later becomes private property.

The above are secondary sources that help to show how sand mining removes the sand from its natural habitat.
Primary Research:
Cronulla Beach:
By travelling to Cronulla Beach as a year 10 group on the 25th of August we were unable to see sand mining in progress however we did see sand being moved into one area. On one end of the beach we were able to see a sign that spoke about how it has been used as a sand Mining area for its minerals.
