Human Process: Litter
Secondary research:
Littering can be defined as where people dispose their rubbish by chucking in onto the beach rather than by doing the right thing and placing into the bins provided by the council.
Impacts on coastal environment:
Littering has no positive but negative impacts on the Australian beaches due to that it causes the environment and animals to suffer. Some negative impacts that are caused by littering would include: many marine animals mistake it as their prey and think that they are full when they aren't, it can harm the waterways by polluting it.
Impacts of coastal communities:
Litter can have negative effects on those who live near coastlines such as that it may destroy the pride that the community has about their coastlines, tourist will not won't to spend their time going to a beach that is ugly with litter and when people eat fish that is caught in littered ocean then they may be at risk of getting an illness themself.

Primary research:
By going onto a trip to Cronulla Beach, year 10 students were able to see whether litter was a major human impact on the Australian beaches. However, we did not see a lot of rubbish only a handful that were wide spread apart from each other . By seeing this we have discovered that the strategy created by the Sutherland Shire Council and Local government were successful, due to that by placing bins with fancy designs it captured the attention of more people who may want to see the bins and dispose their rubbish the right way.
North aging Beach:
On Saturday my family and I went to North Gong beach to see how bad litter was contaminating the water, in a long lake there were a lot of litter stuck between the vegetation causing the water to turn a gross green colour. This proved that there were a lot of bins provided near the park and that litter needed to be taken out of the lake.
