Secondary Research:
Tides can be defined as a wave that is caused by slight changes in gravitation between the earth and the moon and the sun.
Impacts on the coastal environment:
A tide such as high tides because water is being pushed onto the beaches that leave sand and sediment mixed with the water after the tide leaves.
Impacts on the coastal communities:
There are different impacts that tides can cause on the coastal community such as that tides can pull people out to sea, cause rips, rubbish is being washed up on the beaches, brings in fish however put people’s lives in risk when they go fishing on rocks and people’s homes are being at risk of washing away.

Primary research:
Cronulla Beach:
By going to Cronulla Beach as a year group we were able to witness the strength of high tides hitting the sand. We also discovered that tides can also cause the rate of erosion to speed up.
North Gong Beach:
On the 27th August, my family and I went to North Gong beach and have discovered that when there is high tide it speeds up the erosion process causing more sand dunes to become unstable and collapse, we have also discovered this by going to Cronulla Beach as well.
